Speaking of playing less video games ...

Besides doing a ton of homework this weekend, I spent a lot of time watching YouTube videos posted of the Sim City 5 closed beta test. A certain amount of lucky people got to test out this new game that comes out in March (unfortunately I was not one of them), so there were a LOT of gameplay videos up on YouTube in the past couple days. It was extremely entertaining and mesmerizing to watch people build the cities, even though not all the buildings and options were available yet in this beta version. If you remember the older versions, the concept is basically the same, but with a lot of the complicated parts (like managing the budget or laying water pipes) simplified so you can focus on overarching city situations like angry citizens and natural disasters. I've been playing around with the newest expansion pack for The Sims 3... Seasons! So far my favorite season is winter - your Sim can add Christmas lights to their house, make snow angels and snowmen, build igloos, and even ice skate on the rivers and ponds! This expansion adds all the seasons and has a town festival for each one, which is really cute. I didn't get any pics of that, but here are some cute ones of winter!

Greetings from student-land! How is life out there in the free world? Lol. Just kidding. ;P I really am having fun, but it's easy to remember the bygone days of summer (aka: two weeks ago) and wish I were able to knit and watch TV all day like I did then. I suppose in the long, overarching scheme of things, I'm going to school so I can work a job that can afford me time off to be able to knit and watch TV all day, so... that's something to look forward to, right? Lol. These are my books for the semester. I'm already behind, believe it or not. I was planning to read as I went along... and then the "real" assignments were assigned (meaning those that the teachers collect so they have to be done on time), so reading got shoved to the back burner. I made it the top priority on my "To Do" list for the weekend to finish last week's reading, start (and hopefully finish) next week's reading, and try to get a little further ahead than that i...

Have you played Sims Social yet? It's the newest version of The Sims and can be found on Facebook. It's a similar format to Farmville or Mafia Wars, in that you can only play a few minutes at a time until your "Energy" re-builds itself. Personally I find that type of gameplay kind of annoying, but... nevertheless, I love, love, love  The Sims, so was very excited to try this version. One thing I really think is cool, and have long wished they had on the PC version, is that you can now visit your IRL friend's Sim houses and hang out with them! You can interact with them and also ask for their help with things. As is the case with other Facebook games, you need your friend's cooperation to pass certain levels. Other than the social aspect, Sims Social is pretty similar to the PC version of The Sims. You still need to eat, shower, have fun, etc, to keep your Sim happy and functioning properly.
