Love/Hate Relationship

Ahhh Netflix. I have such a love/hate relationship with you. I love that you lend me movies with no expiration date. I hate that once I get said movies in the mail, they seem to sit on my coffee table for a month, taunting me. Why is that, I wonder? Is the thought of watching a movie more appealing that actually sitting down to watch it? Or maybe I was in a different mood when I picked these out and then when I got them, the mood changed? These particular movies are for my journey through the movies of my youth . Considering that I'm still watching my way through 1979 (the year I was born), none of these movies are actually familiar to me yet. That could have a lot to do with it in this case, I'm sure. It's always more interesting watching a movie that I've actually heard of and have been anticipating to see. But today's the day! I vow to myself that I will watch these and mail them on. My coffee table needs to breathe a little without the weight of movies-dem...

summer is trying my patience

this summer is trying my patience. or perhaps just this past month is. i know i needed to quit my job and i've already gone into all of that, but now i feel like i'm sitting here in limbo. i'm waiting to find a job, i'm waiting to start school, i'm waiting for someone to start buying my etsy hats. i'm tired of waiting. i want something to happen. something good. i want the check from my recently abandoned profit-sharing account to arrive so i don't have to worry so much about money. i want school to hurry up and get here so i can start learning and growing and embracing my future. i want to not feel guilty for relaxing for this last month of summer and to actually be able to live in the moment and enjoy this unexpected time off that i would've given anything a month ago to have. i'm not saying that i wish i didn't quit. it's just that now nothing's settled but nothing's happening either and i'm just waiting. for everything. i...

Cats Can Speak

Carlita found a comfortable lounging spot last night in a basket on my bookshelf! My cute Carlita has looooved having me around so much this summer. In fact, this morning when I woke up (at around 11:30), she whined at me for sleeping in so long instead of waking up early to play with her! Lol. I swear to you, cats can speak and, if you listen, they'll definitely tell you what's on their minds. ;) She'll probably be offended when I get a job &/or start school in the fall and have to be gone most of the day instead of home to cuddle with her. Oh well... she'll adjust, right?

Meet a Designer: Milton Glaser

I recently found this interesting video on Netflix called Milton Glaser: To Inform and Delight . It's about the guy who designed the I <3 NY logo. Milton Glaser been a graphic designer since the 70's, I believe, and has designed everything from magazine covers to supermarkets. He's also taught design in NYC and has his own design studio. I'm clearly still brand new to this business, so it was really fascinating to see just how many different options there are for graphic designers out there! Practically everything you see in this modern world was designed by someone... your t-shirt, the prints on your wall, the fabric pattern for your couch. It's truly exciting to imagine the possibilities of what I could contribute to this industry! Here are some of Milton Glaser's designs. Many more can be found on his website .
