ETSY Love: Let's meet ARTiFAX!

How cute is this shop ? I recently discovered it and fell in love with Carrie's quirky chic designs. Now if only my own shop would start selling again so I could buy some of her beautiful items!! :P Carrie says of her shop  ARTiFAX : My love of crafts goes way back to childhood, playing with salt clay, making friendship bracelets, on and on.... In fact, I love PlayDough so much that I couldn't wait until my first child was old enough to play it with me! "Like" me on Facebook ! My husband, three children, two boxers and I live in beautiful Cave Creek, AZ.   Thank you for stopping by!

Here's what I did this week!

I vowed (to myself) that I would be better about sharing what's going on in my school life this term. I kept meaning to share last term and didn't get to it very often. Sorry!! So... starting the new year off right... here's what I did this week! I read about the color wheel. Did you know if you combine two paint colors from opposite sides of the wheel, they'll make gray?  We had to make a collage of colors that represented ourselves. Here's what mine looked like when I was just starting it. (Stay tuned for next week's photo montage to see the finished product!) Typography class is pretty exciting. Everyone warned me that it will be brutally hard, but so far it's just been fun. Even the reading has been fun! So many pretty pictures in these books!!  Today I'm reading about type. It's surprisingly interesting. ;) And yet another typography reading assignment. So much to learn and absorb!! I had to add a non-school pictur...

5 Tips for Good Customer Service

Sorry if this is completely random... I am trying to have a good attitude about a situation I recently encountered (it's hard!), but let's just say that I now understand how Julia Roberts' character felt in Pretty Woman when those snooty ladies shooed her out of their store because she wasn't their ideal customer. I'm not going to name any names because I'm attempting to be the bigger person... however... it got me to thinking about what makes for GOOD customer service in an online small business. So here goes: READ your customer's emails. Don't just scan and reply with a canned answer. There's nothing more infuriating than getting back an answer that didn't even address what you were inquiring about in the first place. Respond to emails/requests AS SOON AS POSSIBLE - preferably in no more than 12-24 hours. Taking longer than that suggests that you couldn't give a bleep, and it really makes your customer feel like their request was ...

Tasty Tidbits of Information

In the spirit of wishing I lived in New York , I was browsing the interwebs for tasty tidbits of information about being a New Yorker. Here's a fun HowCast I found about How to Pretend You're a Real New Yorker . It's pretty interesting and funny - hope you enjoy! (For those of you actually from there, or have actually been there, how accurate is this? Just curious.) How To Pretend You’re a Real New Yorker on Howcast

Hitting the Ground Running

Busy day today - first day back at school! I had Digital Illustration II, Color for Designers, and Typography I. They all pretty much had us hitting the ground running. Each class was like, "The syllabus is basically the same as last term... Here are your first three assignments... Go!" In other news... my stereo miraculously decided to work today! I thought for sure it was down for the count , but apparently not. That'll sure make the commute easier with something to listen to! :)
