What I've Watched - #2

Dance Academy Dance Academy is an Australian show about a girl from a ranch who moves to Sydney to enroll in a ballet school. Of course, there's a lot of the typical teen high school drama that are in most shows of this genre (girl crushes on boy who doesn't know she exists... meanwhile her best guy friend is crushing on her). I can't ever seem to get enough of that type of goopy drama, and centering it around the ballet world  makes it all the more interesting! Plus I love the Australian accents!! ;) I found this show on Netflix and totally fell in love with it. It has a slight Center Stage vibe to it, if you've ever seen that movie, but does very well at not being totally predictable. There's only one season available in the US so far, but I can't wait for season 2! I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Coffee Sleeves

Been working on some awesome coffee sleeves this weekend! I want to try some button-able ones too, but am still working out the pattern. Here's some of my favorites so far, though!

Interview with a Sponsor: Jillian

{ Blog } * { Shop } * { Twitter } * { Facebook } Q: Your blog title is cute. How'd you come up with it? A: I designed this blog to be about my style & from there, other aspirations, inspirations & day to day things. I really wanted a title that captured my spirit & when it comes to fashion, I'm always most confident & comfortable when I'm dressed a little femininely mixed with a boyish edge. If it's overtly one or the other, I don't feel in my element. That's how I came up with Boyish Chic! Q: I notice you're a graphic designer! I'm going to school for that myself. What are some things you wish you'd known before you started working in the business? A: There's a ton of things I've learned along the way, but one would definitely be to buy a pantone color chart if you need an exact color! It will save you time, money & a LOT of frustration. Also, make sure you triple check proofs before approving an...

FEB Photo A Day {Week One}

Here's a look at what my week looked like! I've been doing the February Photo a Day challenge (read more about it on the blog: Fat Mum Slim ). Even though I don't have a lot of time during the day, it's nice to have a photo prompt to get my mind off of schoolwork or the like. {Week 1} { Week 2 } {Week 3} {Week 4} {Day 1} Your View Today {Day 2} Words {Day 3} Hands {Day 4} Stranger {Day 5} 10:00 am

Shuffle

Here's a fun thing to do:    put your iPod on shuffle    and just listen to whatever comes up! I did this the other day while driving to school and it was kind of cool to hear songs that I'd either not heard for awhile or completely didn't remember putting on there in the first place. Take a listen! :) Adele - Rolling In The Deep - YouTube by ... on Grooveshark When We Dance by Sting on Grooveshark I Hope You Find It by Miley Cyrus on Grooveshark Debaser by Rogue Wave on Grooveshark All My Life by Five Miles Out on Grooveshark

80's Cartoons: Then and Now

I was browsing tv this morning while eating breakfast (tsk, tsk, I know...) and ran across a shocking sight. They've remade a BUNCH of the 80's cartoons, and not very flatteringly at that. I knew about Strawberry Shortcake and Care Bears, but check out some of these other ones, too! As an 80's child myself , I've often wished over the years that those old cartoons would make a comeback, this wasn't exactly what I meant! Available on Amazon: $4.99 Strawberry Shortcake: Then and Now The 80's Strawberry people were reminiscent of the sugary treats that gave them their names. Now the characters look more like shrunken Barbie dolls. Available on Amazon Instant: $1.99 Care Bears: Then and Now Care Bears (and their cousins!) used to be a soft, cuddly bunch that liked to stare down bad guys every now and then. Is it just me, or do the new versions have unusually large heads? This somehow makes them look both younger and creepier at the same time. ...

Technology Detox - Day 7

Has it really been a week since I started my technology detox ? I haven't been 100% strict about it, but mainly just wanted to keep an eye on my focusing ability. I've noticed that the more I multi-task, the less able I am to settle into a deep focus when reading/writing/studying. In fact, it's probably been a good 12-14 years since I've been able to settle into a good book without being distracted every five seconds. (With the one exception being the Harry Potter books. As any good bibliophile knows, those books suck you in and don't let you out until you've finished all one hundred gazillion pages of them!) I used to be like that with every book though. In junior high and high school you could barely find me without my nose in a book! Then came the computer revolution and with it my growing need to "keep up" with everything going on online. Being both a creative and a people-watcher, I find the internet to be an endlessly fascinating place to ex...
