Daylight Savings Time

Sorry for being such a bad blogger this Fall! How was everyone's October? Did you remember to set your clocks back this weekend? Have you voted (or do you plan to)?

In other news, I re-joined Facebook this weekend. I deleted my personal account two years ago because I was tired of the drama of repeatedly discovering that they had "accidentally" reset everyone's privacy settings to "public" since "you all wanted it that way, right?". I hate that Facebook plays fast and loose with our privacy and never seems to have any accountability for that.

But... I kept having people ask me, "You're on Facebook, right?" and I got tired of explaining all that. What's the point of a political stance when you're the only one making it? So despite my reservations about the direction of Mark Zuckerberg's moral compass, I've decided to put that thought aside for the sake of keeping in touch with everyone I've ever met.

Oh and... did you know they added a House MD game on there? So fun! ;D

  1. Oh, and just so you know: every time I've heard of this claim that privacy settings have changed, it's usually not true. If you have already manually adjusted your settings to be a certain way, that will not change. If they add a new setting for something, it will often default to "public", but that's just one setting to go in and fix when you find out about it. So, it's less "scary" than people make it out to be. :)

  2. I used to love Facebook.

But now I'm just kinda over it. I don't play games. I don't post statuses often(maybe once or twice a month), rarely comment or like anything on my feed. I use it only to check the happenings of my friends and family. And I'm nearly to the point where I'm just not interested in seeing their stupid status posts...

I've had Facebook since the day they opened it up to my college(May 2005) and can't remember any time they changed my privacy settings. I've always had mine pretty locked down. I think so long as you make sure you set it something other than the default, it'll stay that way until you change it again. Every few months I'll go through and make sure anything they've added is set to the privacy level I want it at.

INFJ vs INFP

I have come to the realization that I may have been mis-typed. I have often taken personality tests and generally come up with the result that I am INFP. I recently took a test that said I was INFJ actually, and the more I have been researching, the more that actually sounds like me.

What it really comes down to is the external/internal focus of the different functions (a topic that I'm still trying to wrap my head around, so I apologize if I don't explain it right). The I--J tends to actually function more as a "Perceiver" than a "Judger", contrary to what you might think (and vice versa for the I--P), which is a common reason these two types are mistaken for each other. How it actually plays out though is quite distinctive, which is why once I started reading more about INFJ's, I realized how much more like me it sounded. Basically, there are...
"...two broad and fundamental options for approaching life and information: Judging and Perceiving. Pe…

DIY Art Journal

Hi, my name is Linda and I am a 25 year old law student living in Manhattan. I blog over at My Passion Is... about my life, scrapbooking, DIY crafts, photography, exploring NYC & more. I am honored to be sharing a post with you today on Jen's blog, so thanks for having me!

I recently completed a mini album that I made out of a pasta box so I wanted to share a tutorial with you so you could make your own!

What you need:
empty pasta box [I used a whole foods penne pasta]scrapbook papers & embellishmentsa single hole punchsturdy tape [like packaging tape]a paper cutter and/or scissorssome sort of binding, either binding rings or ribbon First, you are going to flatten out your pasta box.

Then you are going to cut it down to two 6x6 squares [or whatever size album you want to make]. If the box doesn’t fit perfectly in those shapes that’s alright, just piece them together using packaging tape to hold the squares together. Once you cover them it won’t matter anymore. Make sure t…

Vintage Travel Poster

One of our projects this coming term is to do a computer illustration of a painted vintage travel poster. I've been Googling some options and here are some that I like. Which would you pick?
