7 Random Things About Me

Since I seem to have gained a plethora of new readers lately, I thought it'd be about time to do another About Me post! I just want to welcome everyone in and help you feel at home, so figured this would be a good way to do that. And since I've been awarded a couple blog awards lately that I keep forgetting to mention, that seemed like it'd be a good platform for this!

I was awarded the Versatile Blogger award by Debbie Does Creations back in March. Thanks, Debbie! Now I'm supposed to tell you 7 random things about me and nominate 15 other bloggers to join in. In the spirit of not making this an ever-expanding chain-letter of an award, I'm going to change the rules and nominate 3. (Hey, it's my blog and I can change the rules if I want to!)

7 Random Things About Me

I'm a major introvert. Seriously. I could not speak to anyone for a week and be perfectly content with that.

I went back to school at 32 to become a graphic designer! It's never too late to discover your passion.

I tend to like making how-to posts about blogging. Not sure why. I think it's because I wish someone had had lists like these to reference and learn from when I first starting blogging.

My hair is naturally red, though has mellowed with age and now looks brown. I still think of myself as a red-head though.

My personality type is INFp, which makes me prone to daydreaming, being late to things, and taking personality tests.

I dream of being able to travel and I'd really love to visit (&/or live in) NYC, Sydney, Toronto, and Venice.

If I had a superpower, I think I'd like to be able to fly. It seems like it'd be a super useful and interesting way to get around. Plus you wouldn't have to deal with road rage or nosy commuters on the train.

{I nominate: Angie, Nikkiana, and Jeana}

Nyla awarded me with the Lovely Blog award the other day. I'm supposed to describe what I believe makes a lovely blog and then award other bloggers with it. So let's see...

What makes a lovely blog... according to me

I love it when a blogger gets real. Not super negative or super TMI (I really don't need to know about your childbirth story, thank you very much), but I do love when a blogger shares a creative project that they're working on, photos of their day, or talks honestly about a struggle they're having in life. Blogs that continuously post giveaways and Pinterest inspiration get a little boring to me (not that those things aren't fun in moderation!), and I'd rather know what makes you a special and unique snowflake!

{I nominate: Meg, Alycia, and Putdar.

  1. I'm a super introvert too. My personality type in INFJ. Of course I would have the personality that is rarest of them all!

  2. thanks jen! i'd love to visit sydney one day too :) and ireland, spain, germany ..... :)

  3. I'm an introvert also, it's much easier for me to "meet" people through blogging than in real life. And I love your definition of a lovely blog - I feel much the same way!

  4. I'm a bit of an introvert too! I like the time to think and ponder, and create. Congratulations on the blog awards! :)

    1. Me too! When I'm around too much activity and people, I tend to get cranky and moody. Not helpful for being creative!

  5. I love that you posts how-tos about blogging! I'm a relatively new blogger and i wish I have someone to really ask help from from blog design to writer's block. It was great knowing random things abt you! :)

  6. i'm an introvert as well! i'm such a homebody and don't need to go out every Friday like everyone else. i also love travel and i wish i could fly too! haha - then i could fly to London for free! ;)

  7. Thanks for the award, Jen. I have a scheduled post to share it on my blog :)

  8. Thank you for the award, sweet friend! Admittedly, I am terrible about following a "timeline" with my posts, so bear with me while I put something together! :)

Thanks again for the shout-out...and congratulations on growing your blog and "meeting" new readers!

Happy May Day!

Can you believe it's May already? Time sure does fly! April was busy for me. I started (and failed) NaNoWriMo. I also got a job! Full-time at a webdesign agency. I'm in my second week now and it's been going well. Still learning the ropes and adjusting to being awake in the a.m., but so far so good. :)

How was your April? Do anything exciting? Do you have any fun plans for May?

And as promised, here is your free May calendar! Enjoy!!

80's Cartoons: Then and Now

I was browsing tv this morning while eating breakfast (tsk, tsk, I know...) and ran across a shocking sight. They've remade a BUNCH of the 80's cartoons, and not very flatteringly at that. I knew about Strawberry Shortcake and Care Bears, but check out some of these other ones, too! As an 80's child myself, I've often wished over the years that those old cartoons would make a comeback, this wasn't exactly what I meant!

Strawberry Shortcake: Then and Now
The 80's Strawberry people were reminiscent of the sugary treats that gave them their names. Now the characters look more like shrunken Barbie dolls.

Care Bears: Then and Now
Care Bears (and their cousins!) used to be a soft, cuddly bunch that liked to stare down bad guys every now and then. Is it just me, or do the new versions have unusually large heads? This somehow makes them look both younger and creepier at the same time.

My Little Ponies: Then and Now As with most 80's cartoons, the My Little Ponies were …
