My goals for July

Can you believe it's July already? I have been contemplating my goals for this month and decided I should add a few things that I keep meaning to do but never quite get around to.

Sidenote --> Some of these are inspired by the concept of an "artist's date", which I thought I'd blogged about before, but I guess I haven't. The basic idea is to take your creative self on a date, so to speak ($5 or less!). No one else is allowed to join you. Just go somewhere that will inspire you, refresh you, or otherwise caters to your whimsical, childlike sense of fun. Basically it's a great way to keep yourself inspired and in touch with your creative side and can also help with any creative blocks you might be having!

1. Visit a museum or art exhibit.
2. Go to the free summer movies that are starting up in July (even if I have to go alone!).
3. Get some stickers & colored paper from the Dollar Store & make something with them.
4. Walk down to the lake at least once a week.
5. Finish 4 books.
6. Sleep outside under the stars (of course, this requires that it actually stops raining!).
7. Visit the local farmer's market.
8. Watch 4 movies from my birth year (1979!).
9. Start brainstorming Christmas card designs.
10. Work on a YouTube tutorial about using a Wacom tablet.
11. Browse through a used bookstore.
12. Knit 10 hats for my knitting shop.
13. Get 5 more template designs and 10 more Etsy banner designs into my design shop.
14. Try again to get a really good star trails photo.

Do you take artist's dates? Where do you go? What do you do?

  1. Good goals! I'm trying to get a lot of reading done this summer, too! Going to a museum or two is also part of my plan :-)

Meet a Designer: Stephanie Kubo

I stumbled across a completely fascinating artist today, Stephanie Kubo . Her portfolio doesn't state if she's a working designer, illustrator, etc, but her work is exquisite so I think she fits the bill for including in my Meet a Designer series. Enjoy! (Linking up with Kristen Victoria ).

DIY Art Journal

Hi, my name is Linda and I am a 25 year old law student living in Manhattan. I blog over at My Passion Is... about my life, scrapbooking, DIY crafts, photography, exploring NYC & more. I am honored to be sharing a post with you today on Jen's blog, so thanks for having me! I recently completed a mini album that I made out of a pasta box so I wanted to share a tutorial with you so you could make your own! What you need: empty pasta box [I used a whole foods penne pasta] scrapbook papers & embellishments a single hole punch sturdy tape [like packaging tape] a paper cutter and/or scissors some sort of binding, either binding rings or ribbon First, you are going to flatten out your pasta box. Then you are going to cut it down to two 6x6 squares [or whatever size album you want to make]. If the box doesn’t fit perfectly in those shapes that’s alright, just piece them together using packaging tape to hold the squares together. Once you cover them i
